The Respect for Life group at The Catholic Community of St Patrick just recently had a name change and wanted a graphic identity to go with it. I love it when my inspiration and the clients vision line up and I can give the client just what they were looking for.
Proposed Branding Identity for marketing group
In 1989 I was an ad designer for The Patten Company. The published Exclusively Yours Magazine for the Wisconsin “Elite” market. One of the advertisers, who is a multibrand car dealer, was looking for a new logo. As part of another division of our company, Winsgspan Creative Services I took on the challenge. Soon after the logo was adopted as the Boucher family of cars brand icon, we began using it in their magazine ads, vehicle graphics, signage, internet and on every vehicle they sell, they have their logo decal. The logo I created is the image of the brand to this day.
In 1991, when I worked for Pattern Company, East Towne Square Shopping Center in Mequon, WI was a regular advertiser in Exclusively Yours Magazine. A new boutique shop planned to open there and I designed their logo. This logo was designed using vinyl sticky letters vs. traditional typesetting because desktop publishing was in its infant stages at this time and I could more easily play with fonts and placement doing it manually. The business maintained the identity for many years. The last I knew of the business being open was in 2011.
As a college student at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design back in 1989, I participated in the Visual Resources Group that provided design services for real world applications. This client was 4cChildcare. Client revealed that they had several departments that worked together, however only the Resource and Referral department was looking to have a logo created. So my design strategy was to offer something that could be used for all departments and would create a cohesive identity for the company. This concept was well received and all departments adopted the concept. Again this was produced before desktop publishing was common and multiple color printing was more costly. As this organization’s services continue today, the updating of the logo has retained the core element of my original design (as seen below on their website).
