Design challenge:
Design a selfmailing brochure to feature fall merchandise without knowing what the photos are going to be and make it look good in 2 color. This was designed back in 1991 before digital 4 color printing and budget did not allow for full color printing. It is hard to tell in this sample, but the paper stock chosen for this project was a creme claycoated matte stock to give warmth to the black and white photos. There is a screened duotone background of a map of the area where the clothing shop is located to give the printed piece dimension. I was not involved in the photoshoot, but the photographer had my layout and did a nice job of setting up the pictures to suit the brochure layout. Including a map in the cover shot unified the theme.
